Full-time Packaging Position

This full-time position means working days with evenings, weekends, and holidays off. Benefits and meat perks available.

Duties include portioning, packaging, and labeling of products. Some heavy lifting and the ability to work in a cold environment is required. Successful candidates must demonstrate attention to detail and an eye for consistency and quality. Experience is not required and training is provided.

focusing on food service and specialty food markets

This full-time position builds on the strong relationships between Smoking Goose and its Distributor Partners by working closely with Distributor reps for on-site visits, demonstrations, training, and sales assistance. With a focus on food service and specialty food market accounts, this position requires travel in and outside of Indiana. The ideal candidate demonstrates self initiative, anticipates customers' needs with ready solutions, and understands how to effectively communicate with food service professionals. Success will be measured by growth in distributor sales. Applicants are encouraged to discuss their experience with food service and retail operations in their applications. 

General Responsibilities:

  • Learn and build upon the sales, marketing, and customer service elements of Smoking Goose
  • Attend all sales meetings and associate meetings
  • Embrace and successfully communicate the standards and production methods of Smoking Goose and Slow Food
  • Excel at demonstrating and communicating product knowledge
  • Represent company in a positive manner at all times
  • Field sales calls and orders
  • Contact current accounts to fulfill orders
  • Collaborates with Sales Team and reports directly to Operations Manager

Customer Service:

  • Conduct business in an enthusiastic, honest, and confident manner
  • Value the individual order, no matter how small
  • Be accessible, inviting, and personable with customers
  • Comfortable handling one-on-one customer interactions and any issues whether on the phone, in person, or via email
  • Field and respond to all product inquiries
  • Take orders from customers and process them appropriately
  • Process all orders the same day (including weekends)
  • Ensure order accuracy and timeliness
  • Use Smoking Goose’s team, tools, and any means necessary within reason to accommodate customers’ issues, needs, and orders
  • Return all phone calls the same day and all emails within 24 hours

Sales:

  • Self-starter: internally driven by a desire to be successful in the food service business
  • Suggestively sell the weekly hot list
  • Ability to ask for the order
  • Understand how to build on past successes by asking for more business
  • Abide by Smoking Goose’s sales strategy
  • Motivate sales of new products to existing accounts
  • Monitor daily sales activities
  • Secure and coordinate custom processing orders
  • Visit accounts and execute tastings and demos
  • Make sales calls in conjunction with distributors to grow sales and relationships
