This part-time position offers about 16-24 hours per week and requires working in our Public Smokehouse fine food market on Saturdays during the day in addition to flexible hours hosting tasting events at various stores around Indy that sell Smoking Goose charcuterie.
Prior experience in customer service and/or culinary work is a plus, and applicants must have a clean driving record and the ability to drive Smoking Goose’s sprinter van around Indy.
This is a customer-facing position, and the ideal candidate knows how to connect with guests to make shopping and tasting events informative and fun.
Public Smokehouse is Smoking Goose’s retail market, open to the public for walk-in shopping and dine-in menu. For more info, check out shop.smokinggoose.com Working a shift at Public Smokehouse on Saturdays during the day is required for this position, and duties typically include assisting guests with product info and pairing suggestions, creating enticing displays, ringing up guests at the cash register, preparing sandwiches and charcuterie boards for dine-in and delivery, and more.
This position also includes hosting public tastings at other businesses around the Indy area that sell Smoking Goose charcuterie. Driving Smoking Goose’s sprinter van, doing some heavy lifting unassisted, and cooking charcuterie like bacon + sausages with a portable hot plate are all required. Just like inside Public Smokehouse, engaging guests during these tastings with a friendly, approachable demeanor, excellent product knowledge, and a pro-active spirit is essential.
On-the-job training is provided and those with a passion for working with great food and great people are encouraged to apply.
Starting hourly wage is $16/hour base pay plus tips for Public Smokehouse shifts. Wage for off-site tasting events is $20/hour.
